Everspin Expands MRAM Support Tools with a EM064LX “PMOD” and Renesas RA Family MCU Driver

New EM064LX PMOD and Driver is Now Available within the Renesas QuickConnect Studio Embedded Design Environment

Everspin Technologies, Inc., the world’s leading developer and manufacturer of persistent Magnetoresistive Random Access Memory (MRAM) solutions, today announced a new hardware design tool for its MRAM product line: a EM064LX “PMOD”. Designed for compatibility with the Digilent PMOD specification, this new hardware design tool allows embedded system designers another memory option.  The EM064LX PMOD supports the xSPI interface for single, dual, and quad SPI options.  It features on board level translation between the PMOD 3.3V supply and the EM064LX 1.8V VDD requirement.  For detailed schematics and PCB design information as well as a user guide, please go to the Everspin GitHub.

Along with the PMOD itself, Everspin is proud to announce that it has worked with Renesas in the creation of a software driver for their RA6M4 MCU embedded within their QuickConnect Studio (QCS).  QCS is a cloud-based embedded system design and prototyping platform that enables developers, educators, and engineers to Create, Customize, Compile, and Debug embedded applications entirely within a web browser.  It provides a visual drag-and-drop interface where users can assemble microcontroller boards, sensors, connectivity modules and power components into complete systems and automatically generate the corresponding embedded software stack for rapid prototyping.

Key Benefits of Everspin’s EM064LX MRAM PMOD and driver with Renesas’ QuickConnect Studio:

  • Hardware-Software co-design for rapid prototyping
  • Automatic code generation and application customization
  • Unified debug interface
  • Auto-validation of HW/SW design blocks
  • Digilent standard PMOD hardware interface
